Term of the Month: Commercial Based Pricing

June 4, 2018

What is Commercial Based Pricing?

Generally speaking, Commercial Based Pricing (CBP) is a set of special discounted rates given to shipping customers who use meters and mailing systems that produce scannable postage markings and send package data to the USPS® systems electronically.

Breaking it Down

The USPS® launched CBP discounts in 2008 as a way to reward shippers who use scannable postage markings and send the package data to USPS® systems electronically. Electronic automation saves the postal service money and time, which is returned to the user as the CBP discount. CBP applies to any items that weight under 70 lbs and can be applied to the following mail classes: Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, First-Class Package Services and First-Class International packages, Media Mail, Library Mail, and more. For the full list please go to USPS website.

There is a wide range of savings for those that take advantage of Commercial Based Pricing. The savings range from 3 percent up to 39 percent! For a list of the most popular CBP savings download the one sheet guide below.
