Postal Service Reform Act of 2022

On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, the Senate voted to pass the Postal Service Reform Act of 2022, a bill that will overhaul the US Postal Service's finances and allow the agency to modernize.

This bill will require retired USPS® employees to enroll in Medicare when eligible and would repeal the requirement that the USPS® annually prepay future retiree health benefits. By making changes to health care coverage within the agency, the bill is expected to save the postal service $50 billion over the next decade.

The new bill also requires the USPS to develop and maintain an online dashboard with local and national delivery time data to track service performance and report regularly on its operations and financial condition.

The bill is now heading to the White House and the desk of President Biden, who is expected to sign it into law.
