UPS® and FedEx® Start 7-Day Delivery

Big news for shippers of all sizes: Starting in January 2020 the UPS will deliver packages on Sunday.

This announcement came late last month and follows a similar announcement by FedEx who announced in May that they would begin extending their service to seven days a week next year. Per UPS, this change was fueled by a desire to better serve customers, especially e-commerce providers and will mean "expanded Saturday pick-up and delivery services for both residential and business locations and add new Sunday pick-up and delivery options."

This is good news for small business shippers who will now have more flexibility when planning their shipments and can better meet customer's needs, especially during busy shopping seasons.

Seven-day shipping was one of a number of changes that the UPS released along with an expansion of UPS Access Point Locations and using new drone technology to deliver medical supplies. You can check out the full press release here

Shippers will still have to wait to see if seven-day shipping will be available from the UPS and FedEx this upcoming holiday season in addition to in the new year. Would Saturday and Sunday deliveries and pick-up entail extra charges? By how much compared to week days deliveries ?
